That's what I call a swinging 1915 song!
The text is a bit odd though... for 1915. Cannot recall that every race was welcomed as stated in this video.

Interesting character, indeed.

We've all heard of the Iraqi who threw a shoe at Bush. For some, like the Iraqis, its a huge insult to throw a shoe at someone, to step with a shoe on someone or anything else with a shoe towards that other person. For westerners like Bush, it's only a funny act reminding you of the old Charlie Chaplin movies. So how come the Iraqis (and many other Arabs and even non-Arabs as the Pakistani students in the picture show) think that throwing a shoe at Bush would be the greatest insult to him?
The silly part of this all is that Iraqis are claiming that the shoe-thrower's arrest is a violation of freedom of speech. Since when is a physical assault on somebody freedom of speech? They've got a lot to learn about human rights over there. I don't blame them as they had long lived under the horrific human rights abuser Saddam Hussein.
"Who are these people?" you might wonder. Well, these faces represent death-row inmates who got executed in the United States. In case your further questions touch the subject of what they had eaten as their last meal, now there is a way to find out. In Canada. Downtown Toronto.
Artist Paul Kneale set up a last meals delivery service which provides clients with a replica of the last meal consumed by someone executed in the United States. It'll cost you 20 dollars which is the standard budget allocated by the state for the meal.
Go to the artist's website.
Perhaps you end up eating John Waynes Gacy's last meal replica. Not sure if the family and friends of the 33 victims of this serial killer are happy with this lugrubious piece of art.

Well, Obama won. That's a historic moment.
And another important historic moment to remember from the books of history (see all the way down this blog for more info):
Susan B. Anthony Breaks US Law to Vote (1872). She defied US law and voted in the presidential election, asserting that the 14th Amendment entitled her to do so. She was arrested and fined, but her actions drew great attention to the women's rights movement.

While US citizens are voting their new president, I believe it's time for a nice anecdote:
I wonder how many dogs there are in Washington.

A U.S. soldier with an interesting character
Army Spec. Zachary Boyd, a 2007 graduate of Keller Central High School, was in his sleeping quarters this week when the Taliban attacked in the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Boyd rushed to a defensive position clad in his helmet, vest and boxers -- the pink ones decorated with the "I Love NY" slogan.

His mother was surprised to see that her son was in the Times, but she was not surprised that he was wearing unusual skivvies.
"It was typical," she said. "He has always been an interesting little character."(...)She said that her son had planned to attend Texas Tech University on an ROTC scholarship, but later chose to serve as an enlisted man first.
"He wanted to be an officer, but he didn’t want to be one that the men would not respect," she said. "He felt he needed to know the Army from the bottom up to be an effective leader."
Interesting character, indeed.

Trying hard to humiliate - to no avail

Who let the dogs out?

While US citizens are voting their new president, I believe it's time for a nice anecdote:
Following Barack Obama's election to the U.S. Senate (for Illinois) in 2004, Arizona Senator John McCain was asked whether he had met his new colleauge. "I spoke to him on the phone today," McCain replied. "I told him Harry Truman said the truest thing. He said, 'If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.'"From: Anecdotage.com
I wonder how many dogs there are in Washington.
